Do Ancient Biblical Prophecies Foreshadow the Fall of Islam?
Isaiah, Chapter 21, verses 13-17:
“The oracle about Arabia: In the thickets of Arabia you must spend the night, O caravans of Dedanites. Bring water for the thirsty, O inhabitants of the land of Tema. Meet the fugitive with bread. For they have fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow and from the press of battle. For thus the Lord said to me, ‘In a year, as a hired man would count it, all the splendor of Kedar will terminate; and the remainder of the number of bowmen, the mighty men of the sons of Kedar, will be few; for the LORD God of Israel has spoken.’”
In Isaiah 21:13-17 above, the Bible predicts what I interpret as the end of the reign of the Spirit of Islam. Please study the verses closely.
First, we note the Biblical connection between Ishmael and Arabia. This link has always been asserted by Muslims. Ishmael was destined by God to be exceedingly fruitful with 12 rulers, or princes—the father of a great nation. The names of these sons are listed in Genesis 25 and elsewhere. We know very little of 10 of the sons, who are mentioned in the Bible primarily in genealogical form (though Tema is referenced in the passage above). The two oldest sons, Nebaioth and Kedar, get most of the attention. Tema and Kedar are two of the sons of Ishmael (see Gen. 25:12-16). Dedan is a northern Arabian tribe.
Whether the prophecy of Isaiah 21:13-17 had any partial fulfillment nearer the time it was given, I do not know. But I am convinced of the prophecy’s present relevance. The “splendor (or glory) of Kedar”—through the Ishmaelic-Arabic line likely refers to the glory of Arabia, which is Islam. Islam is the enduring contribution of Arabia to human history and civilization.
Amazingly, Isaiah prophecies, “In a year, as a hired man would count it, all the splendor of Kedar will terminate.” This passage describes a quick work, just as a hired man wants the days to go by quickly so he can be free of his obligation. It also describes a situation where the remainder of the sons of Kedar will be few. I interpret this to mean that the majority of Muslims, perhaps not only Arab Muslims, but Muslims in general, will abandon the splendor and glory of Kedar, which is the religion of Islam.
Where will they go? They will seek refuge from the “drawn sword” of Islam. This is revealed in apostates from Islam today. They need Christ—“the Bread of Life” and the “Water of Life.”
While it may seem that the Spirit of Islam is entrenched forever, it is not. God can topple that spirit. I believe the days of the fulfillment of Isaiah 21:13-17 are speeding toward us. 2010 A.D could be the year of fulfillment when the splendor of Kedar will terminate.
